The Whitworth Building
This surviving MOD shed from Blakehill's Cold War era has been converted by the Wiltshire Wildlife Trust into an education centre and reception building for WWT activities.
My wife, Georgina Povey and a team of volunteers hand painted a children's game on the tarmac laid on top of the original perry track concrete, which teaches young children about the changing seasons and species life cycles.
It is also the main base for The Building Bridges Programme, of which WWT is involved, which supports people across Swindon and Wiltshire who are facing significant challenges in being able to develop their skills, access education or move towards the world of work.
The Whitworth building is where the War To Wildlife tour days end with a presentation about the airfield and a display of finds.
